Worked for six full days for the past week. Uh huh, little boss postponed his flight to today, and we went back to work yesterday. A few users returned to work as well to do the catching up on data entry, which is seriously behind schedule. We gotta be there if the users were there. So we worked till 7pm+. It really sucks to be working on weekend.
I'm totally bushed, and was having a slight headache today. So i stayed in the hotel room for the whole day, with the "Do Not Disturb" tag hung on my door. The hotel staff even called me to confirm if i indeed didn't need housekeeping.
Anyway, here are some pictures of what i had for meals during the last week.
The huge bento for lunch on Tuesday:
Room service dinner on Tuesday (seafood soup, and sandwich for the breakfast on the following morning):
Bread for dinner on Wednesday (two for dinner and two for breakfast on the following day):
Croquette and Coke for dinner on Friday:
Room service for dinner on Saturday (seafood soup and salad for dinner, cheesecake for the next day):
Room service again for dinner today (beef fried rice):
Seeing that i had so many room services for dinners, you should have guessed i was so swamped with work that i didn't even have time to eat out. I'm so sick of the hotel food already.
The situation here isn't going too well. The system has officially gone live, but the users were still reluctant to use it. They are still using the old system, and saying that they don't feel safe with the new system and wanna do a parallel run. My big boss pushed for them to make the old system read-only immediately, but the management here decided to do this parallel run till end of this month.
The users kept on complaining about the system and how they didn't have the time to do the data entry (more so if they want to do parallel run). They claimed that it takes only 2 minutes to enter a new record into the old system but half-an-hour for the new system. Two wrote in their MSN message that "new system, lousy system" and "what an user unfriendly system".
I seriously don't know what else i can or should do already. I just want to stick it through one more week and then be done with this project. Frankly, after go live, whether they can catch up or not isn't my problem anymore. It is up to their management to push for things to happen. We've done our part in meeting their requirements as much as possible. We are here to implement the system, and now that it has gone live, the people issue isn't for me to handle.
The people here, even the management, are very dependant on us. They decided to hire temp staff to help in data entry, and i was the person who's responsible of showing the new system to the kids who came for "interview", testing them, and also making the decision of whether or not they were hired. When they came in to work, i gotta make sure they were guided as well.
Imagine explaining the same thing over and over again whenever there was someone here for an interview, while also gotta provide support to the users and do preparation work for other projects in the pipeline. Then little boss said that we gotta be able to multi-task. Ya, as if i'm superwoman.
After a hard day's work, i'd ask myself why do i subject myself to such "torture". Does it really have to be that tough to earn a living?
I'm feeling blue for the past week. Probably because of PMS.
And i miss 貝 so much.
