Frankly, i'm not so sure if it is indeed good new.
Firstly, my passion is still in doing business analysis. I'm good in problem-solving and enjoy doing it. I don't have much interest in project management, as i'm not a person particularly good in monitoring stuff and chasing people for things.
(Oh, and did i mention that i do not like any job title with the word "assistant"?)
Then, there is no increment associated with this promotion, well, at least not for now.
Big boss said this position was not within the budget for this year. The pay rise will have to go with the yearly review, but the title takes effect immediately. This basically means that i'll have to take on added responsibilities and work load with no increase in pay for a few months.
贝 said that i actually lose out because if i were to get the pay adjustment now, i'll get another increase at year end, which will be using the adjusted pay as the base.
Well, i guess he's right, but i wasn't in the position to bargain actually. I mean, they could have given me the added roles without the title, and i still have to do the job, since the job descriptions of all companies always have this catch-all clause that says we are to do whatever the company or bosses assign us to do.
Anyway, i still consider this as an achievement, considering i'm in this company for less than a year. I'll also get back to do something that may be of more market value than what i'm currently doing.
So, basically i'm still happy. Yay!
