Reading - Day 5 (II)

The visit to the Amish country was really an eye opener. The most surprising part we learnt about the Amish was their high retention rate of their population. I mean, the teenagers are given a chance to experience modern life, yet the majority of them still choose to stay with the community. That is something we really couldn't understand.

But then, come to think about it, the way that they are brought up and educated was very different from us. I may make the same choice too if i were brought up the same way and as religious as them. This once again proves that our upbringing plays an important role in moulding us into who we are today. I reflected upon myself and YY, and wondered if our characters that led to recent events weren't the product of our childhood and our relationships with our own family members.

Anyway, after the tour to the Amish country, next on our itinerary was the favourite to all women -- shopping!

This area is famous for factory outlets. The American colleague brought us first to Rockvale outlets. There were a lot of shops there, but not a lot of big name brands. We shopped for a while and i only got myself a pair of Levi's jeans at USD34.99. It wasn't really that good a bargain actually. In fact, later on, i kinda regretted buying it, for i actually saw better bargain at the outlets that we went to after this.

Next, we headed to the Tanger outlets. Here's where all the good stuff are!

I got myself lots of stuff from here.

Three Polo Ralph Lauren shirts

A Gap miniskirt and t-shirt

And my favourite brand, Calvin Klein! Do not be fooled by the price tags in the picture. There were discounts to the prices. I got myself 2 working shirts, 1 jeans and 1 working pants at USD124.96!

Since i am in need of luggage for my frequent travelling as well as for bringing back all these shopping that i had done, i also bought two Samsonite luggages. It's actually not the latest model but i love the vintage look.

There are actually a lot more branded shops, but then we were running out of time. Our American colleague felt unwell after the walk at Rockvale (due to the warm weather), and she actually waited for us in the car while two of us were busy shopping. We didn't feel good to let her wait for too long, and furthermore it'd be an hour drive back to Reading, so we'd better not shop till too late into the evening. Hence we didn't really have sufficient time to shop slowly, which perhaps wasn't so bad at all, otherwise i'd probably burst my credit card limit there.

On our way back to Reading, our American colleague was very quiet. Then half way through the journey on the high way, she pulled over and threw up. She was really sick, but she drove us back to the hotel safe and sound. It was really nice of her to arrange all these activities, and we felt very bad for her to fall sick because of keeping us company.

So, that concludes our first Saturday here. We had thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Ya, usually all these factory outlets are located far from town. But, do go back again you won't regret! I went to Gilroy outlet 3 times within 20 days! Got really good bargain during Christmas and New year sales! I do agree with you some of the brand are still not much of a bargain but you need time to shop and compare. Happy shopping!--LF

Wah! u really buy lots. But u din get any shoes leh! That means the high heel din give u any trouble or u r not wearing that at all? :p
So u'd got 2 more luggage bag! I don't care, u still have to accompany me to go back to buy that case.
