After we checked in to the hotel room, we rested for about 1.5 hours and decided to go out for dinner.
Before dinner, a guy from the company who also stayed at the same hotel as us came to see us. He asked if we were going in to the office the next day, or we would be staying in the hotel to rest. Since he already asked, we couldn't say no (as i reckon they wouldn't wanna pay for one extra day of accommodation for two of us to stay in the hotel and do nothing). So we told him that we would need some rest and would probably go to the office at late morning. He agreed to pick us up the next day.
After that, we walked to a nearby mall and had our dinner at the food court. The stalls were of course all western food like sandwiches, burgers, pizza, etc.
I ordered a plate of nacho for dinner.
After dinner, we walked around the mall for a while to look for a plug converter. My subordinate didn't have a converter for the plug and hence couldn't charge the laptop. She then bought one at Radio Shack.
We then returned to the hotel, supposedly to have a good rest. But then i slept at around 12am (US time). I think my biological clock would have been adjusted to follow US time, but then i'm still dead tired. It probably will take a few days before i overcome the jet lag.
Day 2
We had breakfast at 9.30am and then called the guy to pick us up to the office. He drove us around the area to show us where to get what, and then headed to the office.
The office is actually not far from the hotel, but not really within feasible walking distance. After arrived at the office, he showed us around and introduced us to some of the essential people here who would be involved in the project.
At noon time, he and the other two colleagues brought us to a restaurant where we had lunch. Everything was served in huge portion and both my subordinate and i were still full from the late breakfast and so we hardly ate half of our meals.
After lunch, we spent the rest of the day working and having some discussion with the users. Then at around 5pm, it was time to knock off from work. Uh huh, they started work early at 8am and finished early too.
Then came the highlight of my day -- we were given a car to drive for the rest of our stay here!
Yeap, i got to drive in the USA, for the very first time! In fact, even though i spent 4 years in Canada during my university days, i did not drive there at all either. So i've actually never driven a car with the driver's seat at the left side of the car.
And to make it even better, it was huge that i've never driven before either --a true blue American car, Chrysler! I'd definitely take some pictures of me in the car over this weekend.
Ok, to drive such big car is already a challenge in itself, and it's even more so when i gotta drive on the different side of the road. I kept going into the wrong lane when there weren't any other cars around to act as an indicator for me. I think i scared the shit out of my subordinate.
Nonetheless, it was a really fun and exciting experience. And with the car, we could go further away from our hotel. So we went to Walmart to buy some groceries.
As usual, i visited the junk food section. Boy oh boy, do they have lots of different brands and flavours of potato chips or what!
In the end, i bought three packets of chips.
Gosh, if i continue like this, i wonder if i'm gonna gain back all the KGs that i've lost!
Big boss will be arriving soon, at around mid-night. We gotta meet him at 7.30am tomorrow morning to go to the office together. I hope he would drive us instead.
