A trip to the land of smiles -- Day 4

Our last day at Bangkok was planned for shopping. As our flight back to SG was at 6.50pm, we had arranged for a transport leaving the hotel at 3pm. This means that we actually only had half-a-day for shopping, and hence the gang decided to spilt up.

We had our breakfast, checked out, and then left the luggage with the hotel. 贝 and i went to MBK. We didn't buy a lot of stuff. I bought a t-shirt for mom, and a pack of 6 small purse with elephant design.

贝 again bought two wooden sculptures -- the Buddha's hand.

We had our lunch at the Oishi Ramen Restaurant. The main course was of course ramen, while the desserts were mochi.

We chose Oishi because for the past few days, we had been having this brand of drinks and found it very very very nice. So, 贝 and i bought 5 bottles back to SG (which we already finished drinking last week).

Everyone got back to the hotel on time, and then we headed to the airport.

The journey was smooth (no traffic jam!) and we arrived at the airport very early, so early that our flight wasn't even open for check-in yet. We then went to the cafeteria on the top floor of the airport, but were feeling extremely hot.

Uh huh, the airport was designed with glasses all over, and with the hot sun shining through and the airport being so big, the aircon simply didn't seem to have any effect at all. We were practically sweating in the airport.

Then i went to get a map of the airport and found out that there were more restaurants at the basement level. So we headed to the basement, which was a lot cooler. We had our afternoon tea there while waiting for the time to pass.

Initially, based on previous experience at the old Bangkok airport, everyone had thought that we gotta pay for the airport tax and had saved up some THB500 for it. Then 贝 checked with his brother and found out that it wasn't necessary anymore. So everyone ended up with THB500, and decided to spend it at the airport.

But then, we were chatting away at the restaurant and didn't pay much attention to the time. By the time we checked in, it was already about an hour before boarding. Not only did we not have the time to shop, we were almost running to the gate because it was right at the other end of the big airport.

Anyway, we got there in time and touched down in SG safely. We had a late dinner (or should i say supper) in JB and then headed home.

Phew, finally, that concludes our first ever biggest group trip to Bangkok. I so look forward to our next trip, and hopefully we can have more people and more fun!
