Anyway, arrived yesterday after a long 8-hour drive; 贝 did all the driving, while i kinda worked in the car via phone calls. This is supposed to mark the start of my 10 days CNY holiday, but i've already had plans to work from BM next week. The clock is ticking for the project i'm handling, and i'm so far behind on schedule. The pressure is on, full force.
Oh well, let's forget about work, at least for these few days.
Here i am, spending my first CNY with 贝's family (or soon-to-be my family too). This is also my first CNY as a married woman. All i wanna say is that CNY is really no fun for the married, especially when you or your spouse has a huge family.
贝's mom has a very big family, like more than 10 brothers and sisters. His dad also has 4 brothers. So with all the cousins, nephews and nieces, we gotta prepare more than 50 angpao.
So, last night, we got a taste of how it feels like to be making preparation for CNY as married couples.
We transformed this (stacks of RM1 bills):
to this (RM6 per angpao):
and finally this (77+ angpao in total):
That's almost RM500+ worth of angpao for the kids. Throw in the bigger angpao we've prepared for 贝's parents, sister and grandma, that's more than RM1k.
Gee, i really miss the days when all i had to do for CNY was just to make sure i got myself some pretty new outfits and then went around collecting angpao instead of giving it. Sigh, gone were those good ol' days.
Other than the angpao, there will be a lot novel experience for me as well here in BM.
This is gonna be a very interesting CNY.
