The traffic at 2nd Link last evening was terrible. Singaporeans were visiting Malaysia for the long weekend, and Malaysians who work in Singapore were going back to their hometowns as well. I'm praying hard that it won't be worse this evening...
We wish you a Merry Christmas
Chorus:
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year.
Good tidings we bring
to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas
and a Happy New Year.
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding
and a cup of good cheer.
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some,
so bring some right here.
For my last post on Christmas carols, let's sing the most popular Christmas song that has an apt title, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". The part that is well-known is perhaps the chorus and the first verse but not the last two verses. In fact, i doubt most people know that there's more to the song than just two verses. I can totally understand why -- the last two verses are just so silly!
The song has such a nice beginning, you know, sending best regards and good news to the recipients of the greetings. Then, the carollers demand a figgy pudding and threaten that they would continue singing and singing and singing till your neighbours call the police if you don't bring them the pudding (with a good cheer).
Hmmm... so all the well-wishing come with a price of figgy pudding (and a good cheer). And by the way, how does a figgy pudding taste like? I don't recall i've tasted one before. It must be really good for the carollers to crave for it so much.
Anyway, i'm sure gonna enjoy this Christmas holiday. Hope everyone does too!
Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!!!
