Ok, so there was no champagne because there was no miracle.
There was no tears either. I guess that was because it was something i had expected and when something you have expected indeed happens, there really isn't much to cry about.
Well, if you are expecting a post ranting about the election result, then sorry to disappoint you, as the above two paragraphs are all that i am gonna write about the elections and nothing more. Much have already been written and spoken all over the Internet - in fact, a tad too much i think. I have also expressed my feeling and opinion on FB as well as to my friends. To be frank, i am a bit sick of it already, and so i am just not gonna jump on the bandwagon and start to rant about it too.
As i've mentioned before, i am not gonna write politics on this blog. This blog is for nonsensical, meaningless and pointless trivia of my boring life. It is all about me me me me me. If you wanna read anything about politics, just google for it.
Alright, now that we have that out of the way, let's move on to the... well, what else but the nonsensical, meaningless and pointless trivia of my boring life! (It is still not to late to stop reading, you know...)
Now, as i am typing this, i am restoring my iPad at the same time. It is rather upsetting, for i'd lose all the apps and downloads i had on my iPad.
Basically, i do not have a backup of my iPad in iTunes (yes, it was a grave mistake but there was a reason to it). I do have some portion of the backup in iCloud (dated 12/4) but i think the backup does not have all my apps and downloads because of the space limitation.
Since i upgraded the iOS on my iPad (i performed the upgrade without using iTunes), it has been responding slowly and sometimes even freezes. Yesterday, i was also prompted with a warning that my iPad is running out of space. So i decided that i must really sync my iPad to iTunes.
Then today, i installed iTunes on my laptop and attempted to sync and backup my iPad (doing it for the first time since i got my iPad), but it kept failing. Eventually the iPad just got stuck at the Apple logo screen and would not start anymore. I had no choice but to perform a restore via iTunes, but that essentially means that whatever i had on my iPad would be wiped out.
Now i just hope that the restore will go well so that i can still use the iPad without problem. I wouldn't mind downloading all the apps and comics and musics again, as long as it is still useable!
Check it out, there's massive rally in Kelana jaya, the crowd continues pouring in even after 9, waving flags and chanting .... Oops, enuf is enuf, life goes on ...
Hmm, I never know ipad is that bad. Since mr jobs passed away, the quality is just getting worse and worse. Sigh, apple = mr jobs and cannot do without the other. Well, good luck in the restoring. I don't think it will wipe out the data, maybe the apps (finger cross). Gee, I don't dare to experiment your situation on my ipad ler, I have stopped to upgrade any iOS, the last upgrade has removed my fav youtube app and vowed never do upgrade again. Don't get frus because of this hor, especially when pr already lost johor, oops ...
Cheers, and wish work has been all smooth sailing :)
Mom went to the Johor Premium Outlet on last Thursday. She said it's really huge; she spent about 5 hours there and did not finish shopping the entire outlet mall. Mom said it was really pack that day and most are Singaporeans and rich Malays. I would like to go shopping for CNY outfits there too, but am hesitant when i think about the crowd.
On the same day in Singapore, i went down to the lawyer's office to sign the affidavit. Once both YY and i have signed the document, the lawyer can file it to the court for a hearing. Since we do not have to appear in court for uncontested divorce, there is nothing further need to be done on my end but just wait. The entire process should take another 3 months or so before the divorce is finalised. It's kinda ironic that the process of ending a marriage is so simple yet expensive.
I took leave on that day even though it took me less than 10 minutes for the signing of the paper. I knew that i was gonna be in a really lousy mood and so decided to give myself a break for that day. After i left the lawyer's office, i went shopping at Orchid Road and spend SGD400+ just in an afternoon. Well, shopping therapy did help, but only for a short while.
On an unrelated note, our group of girlfriends are gonna have a gathering tomorrow. It has been months since we had our last meet-up. This may probably be the last before the end of this year.
read news that it's reported the singaporeans "shop till they drop". kinda waste that you did not use the weekend to be there since they are giving discounts..
hmm, there's still christmas mah where monday will be public holiday, and you can still organize another one before the year end. cheers, hope you had fun with your friends.
The cab driver of the cab i took this evening shared with me about how the booking system works in the different taxi companies in SG. He even gave me a telephone number that is still on radio calling method and allows "negotiation" for urgent case (i.e. jump queue for a cab by paying more booking fees).
A colleague in Malaysia told me about how he was stopped by a traffic police for speeding and he settled it with money. I gave him a piece of my mind, telling him that he is one of the persons who helped to corrupt our country and hence he should not be complaining about the deteriorating situation in the country.
Heard on radio this morning about a news that a guy built an iPad from old tablet PC for his girlfriend. I asked myself - between a guy who would build an iPad for me and a guy would would buy one for me, which would i choose? My answer made me realised that i am actually a vain person. Heh.
I bought new boxes of contact lenses on Sunday in JB before returning to SG. Since the LASIK is not gonna happen within this year anymore, i will still need to look pretty for the Christmas.
I brought three big packets of tidbits to office (which contained 8 small packets each) for our department and all were finished up within just a week. The guys really like junk food - and so do i.
It was all peace and quiet this week. The two girls went to stay in Malaysia with their aunt, and the landlady has gone to China for a church mission trip. There are only the landlady's sister-in-law and me in the HDB unit. However, my room hasn't been cleaned for 5 days already and it is really dirty now. In case you don't see how one is related to the other, it basically means that the landlady and her sister had been cleaning my room for me (since the maid was gone).
Worked from home this Monday and Tuesday, and decided to do so again tomorrow. Aunt went to the mission trip together with my landlady and hence mom would not be going over to aunt's place before coming here like she always does every Friday. With the start of school holiday, now the foreign car permit restriction ends at 12pm instead of 5pm. Mom will come in to SG earlier, but no one is at home and i'd have to be around to open the door for her. See, i found a valid reason for me to work from home.
The Johor Premium Outlet is opening soon and there is a pre-sales event on 1-Dec.
I've registered for mom and asked her to go and have a look. Finally, we have our very own factory outlet here. Hope it is as good as the one in USA and Japan.
My sprained ankle was still not completely healed. Not sure if it's because of the rain over these few days, i felt discomfort at the sprained area. Oh no, i am having rheumatism even i'm not that old yet.
I am craving for something - not food but shopping. Uh huh, have wanted to do some serious shopping for months but never got to do it. Am looking forward to the year end sales now.
hmm, what would your answer be? mine is i would prefer someone to buy for me lor, since the "remade" is still a cheepo, or imitation. if want to make, at least come out some originality ;), not copy some other people product and even its brand, heh. sometimes there are people do look pretty with glasses, you just need to choose the right pair :). but since you're an avid novel reader, especially on iphone instead of ipad, and sometimes misplace the specs and lenses, sigh, it's better for you to get LASIK treatment. perhaps new prettier pinpin will emerge :).
well, don't you think you should sometimes clean the room yourself? and oh no, you can't ask your mom to clean it for you. oh, don't use your sprained ankle not recover yet as good excuse though.. and you shouldn't have slept late even you're working from home. hope you had pleasant days this week and things in office became better. ganbatte pinpin for your upcoming workshop, don't be mad just because it ruined your plan. cheers!
Had dinner with LF at MOF @ Bugis just now. It's great to meet up with friend(s) after work, even when it's just a couple of hours of chatting. It helps me to unwind and that sure does me good.
A colleague is in Korea now and am going to ask her to help buy some Skinfood products. I heard those Korean skincare brands are a lot cheaper there.
Bought 3 tickets from Sistic online today for a Chinese talkshow on Jan 2012 at Esplanade. I will be going with LF and Carol.
Heard an interesting news this morning about pigeons taking train instead of flying. Amazing... animals are so smart now.
Am seriously planning to go for LASIK in December. I am now left with about 7 days supply of contact lenses (i wear daily disposable lenses), and i will have to be off contact lenses for at least a week before going for the pre-op check-up. I intend to use up all my contact lenses and then start wearing glasses for about 10 days or so. This means that i can only go for the check-up and surgery in early December.
School holidays in SG will be starting next week and my landlady will be going to China for a week of church mission trip. The two girls are gonna stay with their aunts in Malaysia during their mother's absence. I am so looking forward to the peace and quiet time here.
Am having trouble deciding what to wear to work everyday. I looked at my wardrobe and realised that most of my outfits are rather old already. I really need a wardrobe overhaul. Am looking forward to the year end sale in SG.
I always claim for the cab fare from office back to my "home" in the evening regardless of the time. There is supposedly a company policy that allows employees making transport claims only after working for a certain hours (e.g. 3 hours after working hours). Since this was not clearly stated anywhere, i have hence always asked for a receipt whenever i take a cab home, and then made the claim and my boss has always approved it too. Yet, today my boss noticed a receipt for 7pm and told me to cancel it. I guess i'd lose such "benefit" from now on.
Situation at work still isn't looking good, and that has brought my spirit down. I am not doing anything much to change the situation, at least not for now. Just feel that i should be still for now and see how things go in the end.
Have been having junk food recently due to lousy mood. I think this may have adverse effect on my weight - i've put on about 1.5KG recently. Must really change the habit of having junk food when i am down; instead, some fruits and nuts should lift my spirit up.
gee, you should have signed up long time ago for LASIK since you are such an avid reader, especially on small iphone screen somemore. and it would save your money too on those contact lenses (uh oh, don't mention it's 老娘我有的是钱). don't know what to say about benefit of taking cab whilst most other companies are preaching for cost cutting measure ler ....
Isn't it sweet food or chocolate would have better in lightening one's mood? but then, eating too much would also bad for the body. hope that this week things had gotten better at work. cheers.
I have signed up Google+ through an invitation from a colleague.
Mom and i went shopping for some groceries over the weekends for our LA trip. Mom is gonna cook some local dishes for my brother and his landlady (a Singaporean) when we are there.
Have not planned for my trip yet. Mom said my brother won't be able to take any leave from work, and i wonder how we are to commute and travel around there. I will have to renew my international license before i go there, for i may probably need to rent a car for going around.
Totally missed this GSS. Have been to busy that i didn't go shopping or buy anything at all. Anyway, i'll compensate it with shopping spree in the USA.
Have planned to finish uploading all the photos from my previous business trips (Taiwan and USA) to FB before my LA vacation, but didn't get to do it this weekend. I think i most probably won't be blogging the travel logs anymore (such as the trip to Bali, Japan, Shanghai), for it has passed too long and would take too much of my time. I've shared the trips with my friends via photos on FB anyway.
Met up with LF they all on Saturday and had a great lunch and chatting session. I am glad to have a chance to see Carol before she delivers her baby in October.
A colleague from the USA wrote to me and asked me a rumour that she said was going around there - i was planning to move to the USA. I was surprised at how fast news travels. I've indeed intentionally told a few selected people about my intention of working overseas, but i didn't expect this message to travel half-a globe to the USA!
Went to make a new pair of glasses on Sunday and was told that the power of my myopia in both eyes has actually decreased but astigmatism increased a bit. This is a sign of ageing and the result of spending too much time on light-emitting devices. I think i will have presbyopia very soon. The eyes of people nowadays age faster than in the older days, and it is even more so for people like me who spend excessive hours in front of the computer or iPhone.
Wanted to order iPad2 online (from Malaysia) yesterday but the delivery date will be within Friday to next Tuesday. I couldn't put KL office address nor my JB home address, so didn't proceed with the purchase in the end. No iPad for my vacation then. I should have ordered it earlier.
Will be in KL again for this week. It is still crazy at work.
hmm, why not just get one while you are at mid valley, surely there's apple reseller and you can save for delivery cost too (if there is). the last time i checked, the price is about rm 1.7k - 2.1k, cheaper than laptop. try to reduce the monitor's brightness and contrast to protect your eyes. for some monitors like dell, the default settings are usually quite bright, you probably should reduce the setting to minimum. as long as you have mind over it, your eyes' condition are not deteriorating,
aiya, try to moderate the craziness in work. keep the positive attitude, gal, you can do it. don't overstress yourself, especially your holiday is near! (sigh, as much as i could read about the upcoming travelblog ...) all the best.
(This is gonna be an update of the trivial things that happened over these few weeks...)
A new support manager joined our department in KL last week. He is an experienced guy and hope he would last longer than his predecessors in this position.
It was just announced that the CIO would be stepping down as of 30-June but would remain until a replacement is found. He actually wrote personal email to some of us before the announcement, because he said he wanted to inform a selected few personally. I am not sure if i should said i am honoured to be in the list, but his departure is sure a shocking news to us. Something is going on at the top again, and now the future is full of uncertainty.
Mom successfully gotten her USA visa. She said the interview was easy. The embassy guy only asked her a few questions, such as the purpose of her visit and what do i work as.
Due to my busy work and travelling schedule, i did not have a chance to do my GSS shopping at all. There are still three more weeks to go before the end of GSS.
The CFO wrote down the places of interest in LA for me today. Coincidentally, she would be going to LA for vacation too at about the same time as me. She used to live there and i could tell that she loves the place very much (even though she is a Brit).
Boss did a talent review with me today, under a HR initiative from the company. I told him frankly about my wish to work overseas and promised him that i would inform him beforehand when i seriously consider it, so that he would have a chance to arrange something for me within the company in other countries, if possible.
Two weeks of consecutive travelling has somewhat taken a toll on me. I am all bushed but still pushing myself to work hard, with the coming long vacation being my biggest motivation now.
Am still hooked on reading novels off my iPhone. If i carry on like this, i may be going blind very soon.
My mind is now 98% set on getting an iPad2. All i need now is just another 2% to propel me into action.
This is PMS week for me, and i am going to KL again next week. I hate it when my menstrual cycle coincides with my travel plan. Oh boy, i guess i am gonna feel miserable in KL next week.
The neighbour is playing mahjong again today. I can't help but wonder - don't they have to work? Or maybe they are full-time mahjong players?
Another neighbour has lots of potted plants along the corridor and he always pour pails of unknown fluid onto the plants. The thing is that the fluid stinks terribly, and we suspect it may be urine or what. Now it smells badly again.
For the first time since i moved in here, today is the first day i access the Web using my landlady's Internet connection. She called up Linksys technical support and i helped her to reset and set up her wireless router with the guidance from the technical support. This was the first time i ever set up a wireless router, yay!
Started my GSS shopping yesterday by spending SGD100+ on facial products from Skinfood. Went shopping again after work today but didn't get anything. Decided to go again tomorrow.
I am still troubled about the behaviours of one of my staff, and am very disappointed with her too. I can feel my patience running out soon, so she'd better not push it further.
Am quite concerned about not able to shred the 1.5 KG that i gained recently, but at the same time couldn't stop myself from snacking in the office due to lousy mood.
Poured away an almost full 1L carton of milk today because it has expired. I bought it last week and didn't drink it. What a waste.
Bit my inner lip twice at the same spot and now there is a huge mouth ulcer there. It hurts.
Had booked the U.S. visa application interview time slot for mom, and she will follow me to KL for the interview on the week after.
My landlady got her iPAD2 today from her colleague who went to the U.S. and helped her to buy it. She told me it actually costs more than buying in SG after the VAT and she regretted buying it there. Now i can forget about buying it in the U.S. and think about whether to get it in SG or Malaysia. Yes, it is not whether to get it or not, but WHERE to get it.
yay, not so hard to set up wireless router, right :)? you should be disciplined about your diet and health, cut down snack food and avoid sleeping late. that's BAD habit, BAD BAD HABIT. and it's stupid to stuff yourself unhealthy snacks just because being in lousy mood. btw, what's making pinpin so lousy mood ? if the staff doesn't give in on her stand or behaviour, why not to look at another angle, and find why it led to this. try relaxing a bit , be positive for the greater good of the team. pinpin sometimes pulled long face too, but she was actually a kind hearted gal :). gee, i hope she is not angry for being "kepoh" not knowing what's the story behind ...
urine as fertilizer, gee, even if the plant or flower is beautiful, but no point if the the smell pukes. sigh... close tight the window with the aircon on lor. if the smell indeed unbearable, perhaps the landlady should have a talk with the neighbor, it's bad and psychology stress for her kids if not the adults too.
my friend mentioned that it's cheaper to get ipad or ipad2 in malaysia. why don't you go and find out - it's time to upgrade your laptop. with ipad2 you can get bigger screen for angry birds, perhaps better scoree too :). take care, don't waste your milk anymore. and, be careful on the recent toxic scare in fruit enrgy drink. cheers.
There are two annoying neighbours at my rented place. One often plays mahjong at home till late nights with all the mahjong shuffling sound. The other one has a dog who always barks at passerby and may even chase the passerby down the corridor when the door is not closed. I've been the victim several times.
Watched a documentary about the giant panda over the weekend. Panda is one of my favourite animals and it boosted my mood after seeing how cute it is. Then i update my status in FB as follows:
This is the PMS week, and it probably explains why i can feel my mood getting grouchy and gloomy.
Plan to start my GSS shopping this week, so i must get off work on time on one of the days.
Was rather amused to find out that Crocs has launched its own eye wear. I can imagine how colourful it must be.
Was having problems with one of my staff last week and was very annoyed by it. Hope things have gotten better after a weekend for her to simmer down. I also prayed about it today during Sunday service.
The AG of Malaysia is holding a 10 days fasting & prayer event. I've never done fasting & praying before. Am contemplating to join this time, but according to the guides, the fasting was not only on food but also "things that distract you", such as computer. That is difficult, considering my work deals with computer everyday.
Rushed mom on her U.S. visa application. She has not even started preparing the documents.
Realised mom seems to fear me in some ways, especially she is afraid of making me upset or angry. I think one of the reasons is because she now financially depends on me totally. I did not like it this way, and must really examine myself if i have been too hard on her sometimes.
My personal laptop is really driving me nuts with its slow performance. I noticed the base gets heat up and wonder if this has anything to do with the system performance.
huh, chased by neighbor's dog? cannot imagine this indeed. pinpin will not turn to become dog hater because of this hor (hmm, you're snoopy fan, don't you)? maybe the dog (or cute poodle) actually likes you, wants to get near to you :). but, isn't letting a dog out unleashed and chase after other resident an offence? strange that even singapore is strict and complaining place, yet there is still people playing mahjong,(gambling?), till late nights somemore. last time when i stayed in jurong, i also heard mahjong shuffling noise, but it was weekend afternoon.
pinpin loves sleeping? where got? she sleeps 5-6 hours weekdays, and developed dark circles. that's not good, pandas' eyes are natural, your circles are not. why did you only associate the "bad" things only. be optimistic! pinpin is likeable person, just like panda being likeable (i see likes on the FB) :). oh, how's your cute FB pet?
it's time to change to new laptop. didn't monitor the price, but i'm sure there are good laptops with powerful specs at affordable cost. how about ipad, or ipad 2? if the laptop exhibits slowdown after power on too long and overheated, it could be hardware problem rather than software. try to consult your IT friends :).
stay optimistic. things might turn out better next week with your staff, and your mum too. don't be easily lose your temper hor. cheers.
Our office is always very cold despite the hot weather outside. It was so cold that the IT Consultant got a blocked nose today. He checked the temperature of the aircon and realised the Finance team set it to 21C. They are so not environmentally friendly.
Heard on radio a few days ago about a couple naming their new-born child "Like". The idea came from the FB's Like function. I remember that i've heard parents naming their baby something dot com (xxxxx.com). These people are just crazy and irresponsible. Imagine the kids growing up with such names and how other kids gonna make fun of them!
Am looking forward to the Great Singapore Sale, which starts on this Friday. Actually some merchants already started the sales since last week.
Realised that not all IT people know about Dilbert comics. I was under the impression that all those in IT field should know about this cartoon character even if they do not read the comics. Apparently i was wrong.
Wore a dress (bought during my last trip to U.S.) to work today and the HR Director commented that i looked lady-like today when we met in the lift during lunch time. She further commented that i looked like the girl next door whom every boy would want to bring home to meet the parents. The IT Consultant and ex-little boss were very amused and said that she meant i normally do not look like this. I admitted to them that i am normally very boyish.
Started researching for information on LA. Am contemplating if i should visit Disneyland.
I like to eat celery sticks with dip. Bought a few stalks of celery on Sunday and have been eating it plain as dinner for the past two days. Gotta go get the dip later because the celery does not taste as nice without it.
Have planned to watch over my diet because i've put on a KG. Then recently the pantry at our office has a few packets of imported potato chips and we could not resist the temptation to snack. Oh gosh, this is very bad for my dieting plan.
Am having difficulties falling asleep lately. Even i went to bed early like at around 11:30pm, i stayed awake until 1am+ before finally falling asleep. I think my biological clock is tuned to late nights, and it takes time to adjust it back.
ha, you should google and visit gossiping sites more, you will be really surprised how some new zealanders named their children. the world is getting crazier indeed. some examples - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7522952.stm. but there are also celebrities with simple names like apple or fish lor.
gee, how come dilbert is so famous and yet there are IT ppl donno? the comic appears at weekly tech column of some newspapers (ST and thestar). but sometimes the strip is subtle to be understood.... pinpin from IT should introduce to them :)
it's strange that finance department to control the aircon temperature when they should prudent with the expenses. ha, maybe you might take the 21C as endurance training against cold weather :). 62 more hours to go. yup, cut down junk food, and sleeeeepp early! go to bed, go to bed, not more being night owl. cheers.
Staying in SG for this weekend. Ex-little boss is celebrating the 1st birthday of his baby boy tomorrow and had invited the colleagues in the department, but only i am going while the others need to celebrate Mother's Day. Actually i forgot that it is the weekend for Mother's Day and had promised ex-little boss that i will attend the birthday party, so i gotta leave my mom all alone in JB for this Mother's Day.
Saw an interesting wireless network name detected in the list. I wonder which neighbour is so creative.
It's polling day for Singapore tomorrow, and we get one day annual leave credited to us because it is declared a Public Holiday. Even though i can't vote here, i followed the news with great interest. Will probably share my thoughts in another post; actually i've been sharing a lot of my views on FB already.
Both the IT Consultant and i were shock to find out that he actually got married on the same day as me, i.e. 31-Aug-2008. The difference is that he is still blissfully married while i am approaching the end of it.
Installed iOS4.3.3 today and it fixed the problems on my iPhone. Yay!
Am hooked on playing iPhone games again lately - not just Angry Birds but all other free puzzle games.
A colleague found a mobile phone in the toilet today and she passed it to our HR. None of my colleagues misplaced the phone and so it must be someone from one of the other two tenants on our office floor. The HR guy actually checked out the contacts in the phone, saying that he wanted to find out who had misplaced it. I feel that he should not have done that; there are only two neighbours and he could have simply checked with them rather than invaded other's privacy.
Received friend request on FB from a guy whose name i do not know. Checked out his profile and noticed that he had added over 1000 friends and mostly are girls. So of course i did not accept it.
Seriously, who actually has over a thousand friends in this world? Even for those with over 200 friends in FB, i doubt they are really interested in the lives of each and everyone of them.
Boss was recently hospitalised because of mild chest pain. He said he was in the hospital for 3 days for a thorough check-up, and fortunately there was nothing too serious. The result of the check-up showed that his cholesterol level is way too high. He is now on special diet.
you can celebrate mother's day on sunday after church service, it's still within the weekend. you're so such person to keep promise, if it's me, i would not attend without other gang lor and decline it last minute ...... have fun ya :) hmm, it would be not creative if the WIFI SSID is really a person's initial instead, then you are bad leh to tease him/her like that .... oh, maybe i had thought with the wrong frequency, haha. ...
hmm, saying to find out the real owner is just like buying an excuse. but with a phone on hand, sometimes it's quite hard to resist from not doing that lor, hmmph... congrats the new OS fixed the problem, and next time don't be so greedy lor. gee, what am i typing here .... of course, i will hang around tomorrow on your blog to know your opinion about the election lor. interesting .....
oh, i had an ex-colleague with 700+ friends, quite a shock to me who only has <100 :(. sometimes i really wonder if she really knows every each of them, but if to add up since kindergarten, pri-sec-univ, ex-colleagues, church, friends' friends, ha, it might not be impossible. the world is getting smaller after all. my close friends had 100 - 300+ friends in FB. makes me wonder how many you have .... flattering a bit (or a lot) here, you're actually quite famous, albeit anonymous, and probably because of your blog he wants to know you better.
someday, you will eventually find your own happiness. don't give up! great to know you are one healthy gal, yay to you ! but then, that shouldn't be excuse for once-a-while staying unhealthy, like staying up late and develop dark circles. cheers, and have a nice weekend :)
You are too flattering liao... i only have 100+ FB friends. I do not simply add people, and sometimes may even unfriend those whom i am not particularly concerned of. I do not want all the updates that i'm not interested in to clutter my wall. ;)
Searched the Web for a little animated sheep we used to activate and let it roam on our computer desktop more than a decade ago. I called it "Ah Bao". Some of you old-timer may remember it.
I've uploaded "Ah Bao" to Dropbox and you can download it if you kinda miss it too (117 KB).
Sui asked me if 摩洛哥 and 摩纳哥 are two different countries. Did a Web search and confirmed that one is Morocco (in North Africa) and the other is Monaco (in south western Europe). Both countries are under constitutional monarchy, which means both have royalties like England.
Wondered if the smell of paint at JB home has subsided. The smell was so strong that i was having headache everyday over the last long weekend. Hope it will not be as bad for this coming long weekend.
The colleague who knew about my blog is going to be transferred to China. This is the last week she is in this office. I feel both happy and sad - happy for her to be promoted and has the opportunity to work overseas, but sad that another good colleague and friend is leaving.
The new maid will only be here in another few more weeks, and the landlady's mom has been taking care of the kids. It is both good and bad - good that the kids make less noise now because they are more well-behaved with grandma around, but bad that no one is doing the house chores for me!
My iPhone 3GS was crippled by the upgrade to iOS4.3.1, and the later update to iOS4.3.2 did not fix the problems either. I hope to get iPhone 5 that is said to be released soon, but the company has stopped issuing iPhone. The company can change my mobile phone, but it gotta be an Android phone. I love iPhone so much that i would rather use the old version than to change to HTC.
Was messing around with Google sites for setting up a sharing platform for our department. Realised that there are quite a lot of limitations compared to Sharepoint.
Heard from the IT Manager that boss was hospitalised, but we do not know what happened. Boss had told us that he is going to be on leave for this entire week, and we thought he is going on a holiday. It seems like his leave was planned for this hospitalisation. Will check with ex-little boss tomorrow and see if he knows anything.
Received the letters from HR on the annual increment and variable bonus. This totally warrants a separate post of its own, just so that i can rant about it. For now, i only have one word for it: unfairness. Or make it two words instead: pathetic.
I brought a cake to office yesterday as celebration of the IT Manager's birthday (which was on Sunday). The cake was exchanged with a voucher i got during the Great Singapore Sales last year and expiring end of this month.
As the cake was not very big and wasn't enough to go around, the four of us in the department ate the entire cake by ourselves.
ah, the cute sheep - that's so windows 95 time. but found it quite annoying sometimes, haha.
aiya, the world is getting smaller with the internet, and facebook, and blogspot! hence, even your friend physically is in China or NZ, you can still be able to keep in touch with her mah. you don't need really to be sad about it. come to think of it, it's quite scary to learn that opportunity at home is getting stagnant and everything now is moving to china...
gee, how come upgrading iphone OS would make it even worse? is it possible to revert back to original OS? sounds like upgrading XP to windows 7 and things start to break like that. don't be so greed to upgrade lor. and, who knows, you might fall in love with HTC that comes with powerful CPU and OS. according to tech articles, android will be reigning in smartphone soon.
unfairness. pathetic. ha, what a catchy teaser. but then, don't overly bash your company ler. another long weekend is coming :). have fun, don't waste that time just for resting lor. cheers.
For the iPhone, yes, i can revert it back to factory setting (i.e. the old iOS), but all the apps and data will be lost. Actually quite a lot of people encountered various problems like me after the upgrade and posted all the queries and complaints online, but Apple has not resolve the problems (or maybe they don't care). I am now hoping the later release of iOS can fix the problems. I've played around with Android and personally i still feel Apple is better.
maybe it's business strategy to encourage you to get an iphone5 :|. it's like the new mac not compatible with the old mac, and it's never apple policy to be backward compatible. gee, how come you say apple is better, i thought you were a google fan , and you can still play angry birds with HTC or motorola ....
oh, don't be so lazy bump complaining doing house chores, it wouldn't be that bad to DIY the cleaning :)
Woke up at 6am today and went to the gym in the hotel with LF. I did brisk walking on the treadmill for half an hour, and decided to do it again tomorrow (if i can wake up early again).
Our team had lunch with my ex-subordinate (the programmer who left). He found a job in New Zealand and would be leaving on Thursday, so it was kinda like a farewell lunch with him today.
Had a long team meeting today and clearly allocate the tasks and ownerships to each team member.
The traffic jam at Federal Highway after work today was exceptionally bad because of the rain.
Could not get any cab back to the hotel (probably because of the jam), and little brother sent me back again. It is always difficult to call a cab to anywhere here. In fact, yesterday i could not get any and gotta ask the hotel to arrange one for me, and the cab fare was RM45 (it would only be less than RM10 if run strictly by metre).
Ex-little boss is in KL too this week.
LF met up with her friends for dinner today, and so i had a simple dinner of fruits and nuts only.
The coming British royal wedding is the media craze now. Both LF and i agreed that the future queen is not a simple person, unlike the late Princess Diana.
The bruise from the blood test has not totally subsided yet. This proves that the nurse was really bad in extracting blood.
Am feeling extremely tired and having neck pain too. I think it's PMS.
tired and neck pain and yet you still plan to wake up 6am for gym somemore.... and oh no, why just fruits and nuts only for dinner - that's so un-nutritious of you. hmm, since you're on company's bill you should take the advantage to eat something that's nice :).
i didn't realize the wedding has been already kicked off. but that shows you were not that stressful to have time for the news, and gossip... kidding. i have always thought that always you'd call the cab from the office or hotel. if travel in cab in kl/malaysia, please be vigilant and don't fall asleep during journey, especially after tired from working. rm45 was call service charge, or just profit during the rain? don't the taxis in kl were enforced to charge based on meters ... gee, i'm so out of touch with the taxi rates.
title states "unventful" but read through it seems that you have quite a day, compare to mine wake up -> work -> lunch -> work -> dinner -> internet -> sleep. cheers, have fun in KL (and soon melaka ) oh, i wonder if the ex-colleague knew about this blog :)
[Here is the return of the trivia of my life. For those who had read my blog for a long time may remember it - there was once I occasionally update my blog in this manner when I was not having enough time to blog and wanted to do quick and random updates. I reckon this may not be a bad idea; the trivia, though uneventful, can be rather interesting sometimes. The important thing is that it keeps record of my life, even if it's the trivial parts of it.]
The landlady's sister came in to SG yesterday and saved me from the agony of babysitting the girls today.
The effect of the Japan trip, CNY and Bali trip are showing recently - i've put on weight after all the eating! The stress at work only makes it worse, as i snack in the office frequently to de-stress.
Heard a news on radio this morning about a farmer in China claiming that his sheep had given birth to a dog and people flocked to his farm to see this animal. Found it unbelievable and told my colleagues about it during lunch time. The IT Manager said the farmer's sheep dog must had shagged the poor sheep when he wasn't around.
Copied some cartoons, movies and drama series from the IT Consultants. I like the Dilbert cartoon. All IT people should be able to relate to it.
There is a pasar malam right at the roadside below the block of my rented place, and one of the stalls is selling stinky tofu (臭豆腐). The stench is so strong that we can smell it even though we are at the 11th floor. I wonder how can anyone possible eat that, but then other people wonder the same about durian and petai too.
Wrote to boss and asked for his approval to send the pretty girl consultant down from KL to do the mini project that was delayed. He replied that he had in fact been wondering why i was doing all the work when it could be done by my staff, and told me to take it as a lesson learnt. Only one word came into my mind after reading that - "DUH?!"
Ex-little boss, the IT Manager and i did a peer interview today. The Manager in KL has left and boss is hiring a replacement. This is the second candidate whom we interviewed, and we all agreed that this guy is good.
The guys in my department and i are crazy about the game Angry Birds lately. We kept talking about it and even talked about using the music and sound effect as ring tone.
Wondered how is the progress of the painting job at my JB home. Uh huh, we hired a contractor to paint the whole house (after more than 20 years!), and that costs me close to RM5K.
Mom informed me that the fridge at home suddenly died off (after using it for more than 10 years). I will have to buy a new one this weekend. It seems like i will not be left with much on the proceeds from the sale of my HDB unit. What a bummer!
Oh! I tell you, it's always like that. Whenever you think you got some moeny and thinking how to spend, suddenly your house and electricals will start pulling your leg by giving you some problem. Sigh~~~
it isn't really that agony to babysit the daughters mah, just show your stern no-nonsense face and the girls would sit obediently do their homework. that reminds my teacher in secondary class. oh, maybe not... ah, i also never know that the kind pinpin has this violent thought of fun smashing birds to kill some pigs , evil evil evil ......
your boss is absolutely right! it's time to delegate jobs to your team instead of swallowing all of them yourself. you're too kind as boss already (how i wish i have boss like you too, sigh), and manager should be managing, not running the show lah. try to become 10-20% of that pointy hairded boss in dilbert strip, haha. did you reply your boss "lesson learnt" with capitalized DUH?! anyway, just don't over stress yourself and making everyone worry. sometimes, delegate job to teammates is actually helping them i.e building up their skills and experience. i believe your teammates are one capable performing group. all the best! and take good care of your health, so don't eat too much of junkfood!
my home fridge has been running since 1994 and is still running. it's goldstar (now LG). i hope it can still run for some years :) electrical items are made not to last forever but until warranty date (right?), otherwise how do manufacturers make money. so it's not your fault. it's time for you UPGRADE, and nowadays with better technology it could save you electricity than the old one.
my friend said before though 臭豆腐 is giving out unpleasant smell, it tastes differently inside mouth. same too with durian mah.oh, i thought you like durians. maybe you should taste one 臭豆腐 and blog about it, haha... oh sorry sorry unable to draw anything these days, got infected with work stress too. gee, sounds kinda like excuse. btw, i'm in harddisk industry, but i know nothing about harddisk ... cheers :).
what? A sheep given birth to a dog???? Man,.... if this happen in M'sia then we'll be setting up a RIC (Royal Investigating committee) to investigate who did it! The sheep dog may well defend himself by saying, that baby looks like me, behave like me, but not mine!
God knew your needs and hence give you money to bless others including yourself!
but then, the hat looks a bit weird, is it just me that it looks like a broom rather than a mini triangle santa hat. i think you put it at wrong angle lah for the photoshot :). cheers.
i surfed about the hat, i think you should really wear it to show proud of the handiwork :). just ignore my sarcasm, and don't be hesitated - always stand for what is right :). (gosh, at one hand, i thought it would ... oh well, always stand for what is right) ...
i thought you were iphone and nikon fan. hmm .... hmm ... hmm .... i blur blur already but sure must be good news one. let me take a guess from thin air, it must be gifts from your big boss and company for your "extreme" hard work :D!
psst, not that i try to belittle but i thot motorola is dead already.
This evening, on my way back to the hotel, i heard a Malay song that the cab driver was playing on his car audio. I never listen to Malay songs, and seriously i can't even sing one complete Malay song at all.
But then, i somehow found the melody of that song to be quite nice. It has this sad tune and the singer also managed to deliver a sorrowful rendition of the song that sorta made me sad (even though i did not entirely get the meaning of the song).
So i came back and did a search on the Web (by typing in a few words from the lyrics that i understood), and it seems like a song from a few years ago and probably quite famous too (since i could find it on the Web).
Sui, it's not hard to find it if you typed in the entire part of the lyrics.
angel, actually i do not understand the entire song; even with the lyrics, i do not know what some of the vocabs mean. The phrase that i did get and used for my search was "Ku akan menjaga mu", for someone made a promise like that to me once too, but...
Wali is actually quite a famous band in Indonesia and this song is supposed to be one of their top song and perhaps the one launching them into big time.
As it is an Indonesian band, that's why some of the vocabs differ from our Malaysian Malay.
haha, i'm not even aware of that, maybe too engross in work already. and there's upcoming long weekend, hopefully i don't need to come back to monitor the status...
