In fact, it was so tiring that i actually need another week off to recuperate. Unfortunately, there are tons of work waiting for me back in the office, so i can't extend my leave at all.
It was house moving week. We got the keys to our new home on last Tuesday. After seeing the empty unit without any furniture blocking the view, we decided to paint the whole place. Not that the condition was bad; we just wanna make it look new and clean.
No, we didn't do it ourselves. We pay others to do it for us of course.
My aunt has a friend who was with this charitable organization that provides job opportunities for ex-drug addicts who want to turn over a new leaf. We contacted this person and engaged their services for the paint job on Wednesday and house cleaning on Thursday. They did rather well on the painting, but the cleaning wasn't so thorough. 贝 and i were happy with their work nonetheless, considering they are not professionals in doing painting and cleaning work. It also felt good that in the process of starting our new lives with a new home, we had helped these people who want to lead a new life too.
We had lots of things to do too. Packing, moving, going around town buying stuffs... and we did all these not once but several times everyday. We did not engage any moving company and did the moving ourselves. So 贝 had a taste of how it feels like being a cab driver, as he drove between Hougang and Bukit Batok at least twice everyday.
On Friday, the furniture arrived. It was also the day we returned the keys to our ex-landlady and said goodbye to Hougang, the place where we had stayed for 1.5 years. Then, we spent the whole day tidying and cleaning our new home. Oh boy, all i can say is that moving house is really one hell of a job.
贝 was responsible of fixing up all the pieces we bought from Ikea, while i did the cleaning. We worked till 10pm+ and decided to call it a day. Even thought there are still many things to do and to buy, we were really bushed and aching all over. We drove back to JB and reached home after mid-night.
Anyway, here are some pictures of our new home, taken right after the painting and before the cleaning was done.

The unit with an odd shape
The living room
The kitchen

Peeping in to the master room
The storeroom
And lastly, here's 贝 working hard at fixing up an Ikea chair, with our stuff still scattered around the place.
We will have to continue with the fixing and cleaning today when we get back to SG later. The TV and fridge will be delivered today, and we still have to go around shopping for a few more pieces of essential furniture that we have not found.
Gosh, i'm really really really beat, but am also really really really happy that we are finally having a place of our own.
