Finally, after 14 years of courtship, she tied the knot with her boyfriend.
We were at her home early in the morning for the Chinese customary ceremony. Well, being the bridesmaids, we of course dutifully prepared a series of challenges for the groom and his best-men before allowing the groom to see the bride. The groom was so nervous that his hands were all shaky!
We asked the groom to peel a pomelo barehanded, do some yoga poses, sew two pieces of heartshaped cloth filled with red beans, and sing a song. Of course, the angpao for the "sisters" was also something mandatory.
We had fun, even though the guys teased us later on for giving such easy tasks. We could only blame ourselves for being too nice, as we did not want to play any games that would embarrass the groom too much, or cause any harm to him (like eating something that might make him sick in the stomach). I guess the result for being considerate was to be laughed at.
Anyway, after the morning session, we all went home to rest for a while and to doll up for the wedding banquet. We were the receptionists for the bride's side, so we again dutifully sat by the entrance to welcome the guest and collect the angpao.
The wedding dinner went well, with good food and nice entertainment provided by the live band and the video clip of the morning session. Min, being the princess of the day, looked absolutely stunning. It was also the first time we saw her hubby in formal wear.
Despite a few insignificant glitches here and there, the whole wedding day went smoothly. It was tiring yet memorable. Min and hubby were off to China for their honeymoon today, and hope they have great fun... and possibly make babies too... heh-heh...
Wish them happily ever after.
