It's just a freakin' steering wheel lock!

The inspection at Singapore checkpoint this morning was really thorough. I guess it was because tomorrow is S'pore National Day and they must have tight security to safeguard against terrorism. The custom officer who inspected our car this morning was si bey guai lan the strictest i've ever encountered. Not only did he check the car boot and glove compartment, he also ransacked my bag and 贝's laptop bag.

Well, with such thorough checking, the custom officer of course noticed the steering wheel lock that was placed at the floorboard of the back seat.

As opposed to the last one who took a hard look at it to realize it was a steering wheel lock, this custom officer actually picked up the lock and asked 贝 what it was. I'm not sure about 贝 but i would have been tempted to reply that it was a weapon and i'm a stupid terrorist who placed it so openly in the car. However, it would definitely be stupid to joke about such thing with a custom officer, especially when i could see the checkpoint police who was holding the riffle already moved few steps towards our car, as if he was ready to shoot anytime.

I wonder what's so unique about this steering wheel lock that would elicit such interest from the customer officers. I thought almost all steering wheel locks look like this. It's either they don't own a car and have never used a steering wheel lock before, or they do have a car but S'pore is so safe that the drivers hardly use it. The ironic part is that we actually bought this steering wheel lock in S'pore and i didn't see shops in JB selling it!

Perhaps i should do something about it to avoid such confusion again... erm... maybe paint some indication on the lock like this:

There, stop all the questioning and see for yourself!

It looks like a modified M16 that has been hidden under the seat and slipped out and got noticed.
