A trip to cat city -- Day 3

Day 1 (I)
Day 1 (II)
Day 2 (I)
Day 2 (II)

I would say our last day in Kuching was the highlight of our trip. We were to explore the natural side of Kuching at its outskirt.

On the day before, we had asked the front desk manager of the hotel to rent a car for us. The cheapest car for renting was of course manual-transmission Kancil, which cost RM100 per day. We had also asked the manager for direction to our destinations. The plan was to visit Wind Cave in the morning, return to Kuching City, then go to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in the afternoon, and followed by dinner with my friend again.

Before departing for Bau, where the Wind Cave was located, we had breakfast at Madam Tang's Cafe again. We ordered the beef noodles, which was different from the one we had on the day before at the kopitiam near the hotel. The beef noodles there were very much like the one we get in West Malaysia.

After breakfast, we drove about an hour to the Wind Cave, as recommended by the hotel. We got a bit lost because of the blurry road sign.

We rented the torch light from the ticket counter, and thought of exploring the cave. Yet there wasn't any other tourist at all. We were the only pair there. The cave was dark and the warning sign wasn't really very encouraging either. We also kind of heard the sound of bats. In the end, we only walked towards the entrance of the cave and didn't dare to go further. We gave up and the drove back to Kuching city again.

While we still had some time, we decided to visit the city again on the places that we had missed out on previous days.

The Sarawak Club that was burnt down just recently.

The Civic Centre that was under maintenance.

We then had our lunch and coffee.

And then we headed to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre.

Before we were being brought into the woods to see the orang utan in the wild, the person-in-charge gave a short speech on what to look out for when we are in the woods.

We then waited (together with big groups of other tourists) for almost an hour before the orang utan showed up.

In the evening, before meeting up with my friend, we went to one of the supermarkets near our hotel.

We had dinner with my friend, and he took us on a boat ride to the other side of the river.

Things i observed about Kuching:

(1) Chinese road names, which are not seen in JB or KL

(2) Lots of huge roundabout
