Am back in JB now after 7 hours drive from Bukit Mertajam. 贝 was the driver though, and i slept through most of the journey.
On CNY day, mom and i went in to Singapore as planned. We just had lunch there and then came back home in the late afternoon. On the following day, i went to LF's home as she was having a CNY open house. Our group of friends always have gathering every CNY, and this year we just took the open house as the day for our gathering. Since LF was also having many other guests at her house, we didn't really have a good chat except eating and watching the dancing dragon that LF's in-laws had hired to auspicate their house. One happy thing though was to receive Siang's call from Japan.
Went to 贝's home town on Tuesday morning. The Air Asia flight was smooth even though i was rather unhappy with the service. I would have complained about it, but then i though about the amount i've paid for the air ticket, and decided that i shouldn't be asking too much. So i'd just shut up.
I did nothing much during the three days i was in BM. Just ate, read comics, ate, ate, ate, read comics, read comics, ate, ate, ate, and ate some more. Seriously, they don't call Penang a food heaven for nothing.
Ok, other than eating non-stop, we did go golfing at a driving range on the Penang island on Wednesday. The facility there was quite run-down and the golf balls were all used beyond their acceptable lifespan. The one we always go to in JB is so so so much more better. Anyway, i haven't been touching the golf clubs for almost a month already. It felt great to play again despite the badly maintained driving range.
贝's hometown has been developing in a fast pace in recent years, especially the property market. There's this new place called Auto City where there are lots of cafes, restaurants, bistro, and pubs all gathered at one single location. What makes this place stands out was that the buildings there are not in rows of shop houses but in the form of cottages, rendering it a western ambiance that we don't usually find in a small town such as BM. How i wish we have a place like this in JB too.
This CNY, i received about RM400 ang pao in total. It was rather embarrassing to be collecting and counting ang pao money at my age, but extra cash is always welcomed, especially after spending so much before CNY. Another good thing in getting ang pao is that it gives me an illusion of youth, as if i'm still young and can still rightfully collect ang pao from the elderly. Well then, i shouldn't be feeling malu but should be glad instead.
