It was a hectic weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, we saw an ad on the Web for a flat rental. The agent told us that the flat owner had arranged a viewing of her flat at 4pm. It was almost 3pm then, so we rushed in to Singapore to look at the place.

There were other prospective tenants too, and one of them actually offered a higher rent. Since the place was rather old and not well-maintained, we decided not to counter-offer and just left the place. It was a wasted trip.

Today, we had an appointment to view another flat in the evening. Again, we drove all the way from JB to Singapore. We liked the place very much this time, as it was newly renovated and the location was not too far from my office too.

There was one complication though. The ad we saw was for renting a fully furnished flat for SGD700. But when we got there, the landlady told us that it should be SGD750 and not furnished at all. It turned out that the agent posted the wrong info on the Web. There was another group that were going to view the flat after us. We decided to let the owner to make the decision and just left the place.

On our way back, i sms-ed the agent and told him that we would take it immediately if it was SGD700 as we saw on the ad. After a while, the agent sms-ed me and said that the second group was four girls who were willing to pay SGD750, but the owner was considering since she didn't like the idea of four persons staying there (it was a two-room flat but the master room will be locked up).

In the end, we got the place with rental of SGD700. So it does pay for not budging and insisting on what we want sometimes. Of course, we were really lucky that our competitor was a group of four girls and not another couple.

Finally, one load off my mind. It was really tiring to run around like this looking for a place to stay in Singapore. I'm so glad that we could have it settled within one weekend.

Anyway, we will be moving in on 1-Apr. I'm gonna be so broke this month since i gotta scoop out a sum for the deposit, rental, and some basic furniture. I do, however, look forward to moving in so that i can get more sleep everyday.
