Isn't this person super annoying or what? *smirk*
Yeah yeah, i did intentionally post things like that to annoy my friends who need to work everyday. I mean, c'mon, it is not as if i get such opportunity all the time. After years of working like a dog, i can finally idle at home everyday now, and so of course i should take every advantage of it.
Before you get all jealous about it, do remember that this comes with a price - by idling at home, i do not have any income and need to use my savings to feed my mom and myself for months. And i'm not exactly being thrifty either, as i've splurged a few thousands ringgit on gadgets already and will probably still be spending more. I do see the figures in my saving account dwindling and i'd be lying if i say it does not bother me at all. It does, but only a little bit.
I am not that fortunate to be able to retire now (though i wish i could). The fact is that i still need a job and probably will still be working like crazy for the next twenty years or so.
But then, i did not appear to be desperately hunting for a new job even though i've been writing about running some errands in-and-out of SG. So what was up my sleeve really?
When i mentioned about my resignation back in July, some of you had actually guessed it even before i wrote about it. But then, for those who are not aware of this, i am sure you would never have guessed the second big change that is coming my way.
Why i said "coming my way" is because it is something that is 99% confirmed and there is still a slim 1% probability that things may go the unexpected way. After all, if life has taught me anything over these few years, it is definitely the fact that nothing is ever certain in life except that everyone will eventually say goodbye in one form or another; anything else is always open to endless possibilities.
I have wanted to wait till the dust has settled before writing about it, but it will be at least another month (or more) away and i'm afraid that by the time it is indeed confirmed, i'd have no time to blog about it anymore. By then, i'd be really busy and not being lazy for not blogging.
This second change is something that is really major and i guess it is obvious that, with the prelude of this post, the change has something to do with my new job.
Yes, i've actually already found a job before my resignation. That is no big deal as i've changed jobs so many times (the new job is gonna be my 9th job in my working life). What makes it a significant change is that the job is in Wellington, New Zealand.
I hope that last sentence did give a pleasant surprise to some of you who are reading this. Uh huh, i am going to move to New Zealand for probably at least three years.
I have been going to many places in SG and JB over the past few weeks to get the paperwork done for the application of my work visa. Last Thursday, i have finally get all the documents required at my end completed and sent the full set of paperwork out to the NZ immigration consultant that the company has engaged. Once the consultant receives the paperwork and checks that everything is in order, she will submit it to the NZ immigration department for processing. It will take at least a month or two before it gets approved. Of course, there is still a chance that the application may get rejected, but then i was told that it is quite unlikely because the application falls under the category of "specialised skillsets", which forms part of the skills shortage list in NZ.
As i've mentioned or hinted in my many posts before that a lot of things have actually happened since the beginning of the year. It was not by chance that i landed with this job.
The story will come eventually, if i don't get lazy to write again.
