The new home

The first night at the new home wasn't too good. I was awaken in the middle of the night by someone playing some Cantonese songs loudly on the stereo. But then, even if it had been a quiet night, i would still be unable to get a good night sleep, despite us being exhausted after all the cleaning till 10m+.

First of all, there's no aircon. Not that it's hot here on high floor, but i'm kinda spoilt in sleeping in aircon room every night when in JB. Now, i gotta get used to sleeping with just fans.

Then, it was the mattress. We placed the cheap mattress we borrowed from my uncle on the floor, on top of another cheap mattress that the owner left for us. In this way, we wouldn't feel the hard floor when sleeping on the thin mattresses.

But then, the mattresses were of low quality and were made of some materials that felt hot. And of course, cheap mattress doesn't provide a firm support for the back and it would just sink in when we sleep on it. So basically, i just miss my bed.

Lucky us, it's a four-day work week and i'll be back in JB on Thursday night. Oh, and we've bought a better mattress, which will be delivered to us on Wednesday evening. I'll have to rush home on Wednesday after work to wait for the delivery guy. My work place is only about 10 minutes drive away anyway, so i don't really have to rush.

Other than the mattress, we bought lots of other stuff too, such as a big electrical fan, an electrical water pot, a small table, pillows and some other household stuff. Thrown in the rental and agent's commission, i'm pretty much broke now. Gosh, it's only the second day of April. I really gotta monitor my spending closely for the rest of the month.

I would have written more about the new place if it were not for the impossibly slow M1 Internet connection. It was supposed to be a 3G plan, but what we got was not even a dial-up speed. It's an utter disappointment. Now i'm more appreciative of Celcom 3G. So you see, sometimes it's by comparison that we come to realize that what we have isn't really as bad as what we've thought so.

Which area are you at again?... it's really cheap. Sigh. I can't seem to get a decent place that is below 1400 these days.

Sigh.

It's at Hougang.

Ya, i think the property market is very good now in Singapore and caused the rental to increase too. It may be easier if you get an agent to look for you, but then of course you gotta pay half-month rent as the agent fee (which i did).
